Chinese herbal therapy are an integral part of TCM. TCM prescriptions are different from European herbal medicines as they are based on the theories of "Li-Fa-Fang-Yao" (principle, method, formula, and medication) and grounded in extensive clinical experience. In the UK, Chinese herbal medicine primarily consists of plant-based remedies. Our clinic adopts small-dose prescriptions, ensuring precise therapeutic effects, palatability, and convenient preparation. Each herb has healing properties which are used to regulate the body’s Qi, and ultimately achieve a balance in the human body. The therapy involves the tailored prescription of the right herbs to return you to a healthy state.
We tailor our herbal combinations to individual patient needs, typically selecting 9 to 12 different herbs. The daily dosage ranges from 3 to 5 grams, prepared by decoction or infusion depending on the herbs used.
Infusion Method: Like preparing tea, an infusion is prepared by bringing water to a boil and pouring it over the herbal mixture. After letting it sit for 5 minutes, take the bag out and the tea can be drunk immediately. The teabag can be used repeatedly through the day.
Decoction Method: Combine one small bag of the herbal mixture with 900 milliliters of cold water. Boil until the liquid reduces to 600 milliliters. This decoction is to be consumed in two separate doses throughout the day. For optimal efficacy, it is advised to take the medicine 30 minutes before meals.
